Brave
Waves will perform selections from their CD on the tabla,
guitar, keyboard, bagpipes and other unusual instruments.
The band blends Joe McDonald’s singer/songwriting with
rhythms from India and melodic guitar textures.
Joe McDonald (bagpipes, keyboards, harmonica, vocals)
is an alumnus of the Langley Community Music School and has
been a professional musician in Vancouver for over 20 years.
Joe played keyboards with "Bare Facts" a rock band
from the eighties that many Langley residents will remember.
Lately he has performed around the world including Beijing,
Tokyo, and Mexico.
Andrew Kim (guitar,) recently received a scholarship
to study sitar in India. At the end of November he will travel
to Varanasi for four months.
Sunny Matharu (tabla) began studying tabla (North Indian
drums) at the age of 4.He is a master of Indian classical
music, but enjoys the fusion of cultures that is "Brave
Waves".
