Rob
Thompson - Vocals and Guitar
An amazing range of vocal styles and strong rhythm
guitar has always been Rob Thompsons forte.
Rob has been performing since 1980, running the full
range of venues from small neighbourhood pubs and
restaurants to large outdoor festivals.
Rob is originally from Hamilton, Ontario. He decided
to venture west
for a short stay and found himself performing
for the apres-ski crowd in Banff for 4 years. The
next stop was Big White Ski Resort in
the Okanagan, where, for 3 years running, he was the
house entertainer in Snowshoe Sams lounge. Summers
meant performing in nearby Kelowna in various nightspots.
He now calls Bowen Island home where he has been blessed
with the opportunity to work with a veritable whos
who of the Vancouver area music scene.
He appears regularly in Doc Morgans Marine Pub
with long time duo partner, guitarist Peter Sinclair
and at the Bowen Island Pub with a five-piece dance
band that features Vancouver sax legend Wayne Kozak.
An awesome rhythm section includes Buff Allen on drums
and Brian Newcombe on bass.
Robs
most recent regular gig has been at Whistlers
Dubh- Linn Gate where he works with fiddle
virtuoso Moritz Behm. Juno Award winning
banjo/bassist from The Paperboys Cam Salay
and master fiddler Shannon Saunders(Paperboys
and Splinters) joins in from time to time as
well.
Rob also plays a solo gig in the Crystal Lounge
in Whistler Village and travels to Albertas
famous Banff resort on a regular basis
to play at the St. Jamess Gate Pub.
Rob possesses a powerful voice and an extremely rhythmic
guitar style. He has a huge repertoire from which
to call on and has always appealed to a very widespread
audience in terms of age and style.
